New Zealand Association of Women in Aviation

Are you
excited about flying or in any aspects of aviation?  Well, we are too.   The New Zealand Association of Women in Aviation is an enthusiastic group that aims to foster friendship amongst women interested in aviation.  Through our network, meetings, rallies and newsletters, we encourage you to extend your knowledge and experience in your chosen sport or profession.

You can become a full member if you are a woman who holds, has held or is training for a pilot licence or micro-light, glider or parachute jumper certificate or any other licence or certificate connected with aviation, or have an active interest in aviation.  Associate membership is available to anyone with a professional or sport interest in any aspect of aviation.

Flying Lesson 1

Aviation, flying, pilot, aviator So what do you get

You have access to a great network of women who are involved either professionally or recreationally, in a wide range of  aviation activities.  You will be inspired by the enthusiasm of our members and can draw on the knowledge and skills of women aviators who have many years experience or share ideas with other women just starting out.  If you want to find out more about aviation then go to our Links page for a range of relevant websites, or click News to find answers to frequently asked questions.

You will receive our great newsletter every quarter which is full of articles, updates, lively stories and useful information all submitted by our New Zealand and overseas members.  Click here and enjoy a sample of the wonderful articles featured in our previous newsletters FREE!  Or join now and start receiving your copy by post or e-mail.

We hold an annual Rally at Queen's Birthday Weekend at different locations across New Zealand.  You would have the opportunity to fly in for a memorable weekend of competition, education, camaraderie and our Annual General Meeting.  There are competitions for pilots at all levels of experience including fixed-wing, glider, helicopter and micro-light aircraft pilots as well as for parachutists.

The Asia Pacific "Women in Aviation" Conference is held every three years and we host the conference alternately with the Australian Women Pilots Association.  Speakers from around the world are chosen to provide a fascinating and informative conference in many different aspects of aviation.  Panel discussions and workshops are included while the social events allow for valuable networking. For more information about the Conference e-mail NZAWA President Rosie Musters

The Association also offers scholarships to assist women starting out in flying or to assist members in achieving practical and or theoretical flight training.  As a member, you may also apply for Hours Awards to recognise the achievement of certain milestones in your aviation career.  Each major milestone (500 hours, 1000 hours, 5000 hours 10 000 hours) is denoted by a badge and these awards are presented at the Association's Annual Rally.

Are you tempted?  If you are, then we invite you to join us.  You can contact us for more information, join by completing our Contact Form or just e-mail us.
